Work Continues to Get Ready for
RiverFest 2008
We've been mowing, removing trash, burying electrical lines, contacting vendors, making postcards,
clearing river cane and other chores this month. Volunteers are needed for outside work & sit-down work prior to the festival.
We still need help at race and festival registration, food concession, souvenir booth
and cleanup after the festival. Please contact Patti at 281-292-5600 or if you can help. Contact Eric McGhee, race coordinator, if you can help at the Cornfields to Cottonmouths river race. If anyone
needs postcards or other promotional material, call James at 281-292-5600.
Playboaters Heaven
With the Bryan gage showing 13.5-15.5 this past weekend, several local kayakers
had some fun in the waves: Bruce, Russell, Randy, Steve, Aaron and others were tearing it up. Hope the water holds a few more
weeks!

Flowers Blooming
The Indian Paintbrush, dewberry, yellow asters, wisteria, white irises, Easter lilies (how
do they always know when to bloom?) and several other flowers are showing in abundance. It looks like a good year
for the wildflowers here at Hidalgo Falls.

Wild Green Onion
The wild onion is also proliferous - come on out & get some before it gets mowed down!
Here's a great Sourdough-Wild Onion Bread recipe I adapted for my
bread machine:
1 cup sourdough
2 1/4 C. flour
1 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 T. yeast
1/2 C. wild onion minced
optional: 1/2 C. chopped pecans or walnuts
Place in bread machine on french bread setting. Yummy!
