This is the first
edition of Hidalgo Falls News designed to bring you the latest on one of our favorite places in Texas. The above picture,
shot on December 29th, shows the river from below the Falls. The water is low but very, very clear. Here it looks
blue, but it really was a pretty clear green in other shots. It doesn’t get much better than this!

Fall color finally came to the river last month when we had a cold snap.
The yaupon are in beautiful full bloom, the paperwhites think it’s spring & are just starting to peek out, and a
pretty ground cover with tiny fuchsia flowers is beginning to bloom. And then we will have a freeze and lose it all!

SouthWest PaddleSports purchased a porta-can, wheelchair
friendly, so it’s large enough to change in. It sits next to the renovated bunkhouse that our kids call the “clubhouse”.

Brownsville, Houston, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Sugar Land and Surfside Beach are a few of the areas that were represented.
Congratulations to them all!
